Do I really need....or can I postpone this?

I got mine but she didn't start using it til 3 months and loved it at 4 months. She loved hers and I loved it as well, it was the only way I was able to take a shower for 10 min. I would definitely buy it again. I also used it for tummy time because it has colors and designs that she loved to look at when she was doing "tummy time" I did use it from the beginning but if you don't have the money right now then you have a couple months to save up but of all the things I bought the play mat was used daily!! Maybe try Craigslist, I see people selling some for cheap that are brand new.My daughter still uses the toys. She is 7 months so she rolls everywhere but loves the toys still. Are you having a shower? try putting it on your registry??...I would give you mine but She is still using all the toys :-( But I definitely recommend it.
