Which would you suggest: Wii or Play Station 3?

I am going to be getting either of the two for my upcoming birthday. I am an only child so I don't really need 2 player games. I hate violence games such as halo, but I really appreciate games such as little big planet or tak and the power of juju; the funnier games. Not the gun games. I REALLY want to get little big planet, but that is only a game for ps3. However, I really would like to get a Wii. I'm totally lost--can somebody give some suggestions? What games are somewhat like the games I like on each system? Which games do you suggest?
